Things you should know
now………………..
An
overview
Study
To
qualify as a Chartered Management Accountant, you have to
study for the CIMA
qualification.
CIMA courses are structured so that you can study at your
own place.
And in your own
time. Methods of study vary from country to country, and
they may
include:
·
Attending
taught classes
·
Completing
a distance-learning course
·
Attending
sandwich or block-release courses
|
Work experience................
Before
you can qualify, you must complete three years’
practical work experience and
record the details within a ‘Career Profile’. Most
CIMA students gain this experience
by finding a relevant job while they study for their
exams.
|
The exams.........
You
must pass exams at three levels; Foundation, Intermediate
and Final.
CIMA realise that you
have other commitments, so we want to make your CIMA
training as flexible
as possible.
·
You
can sit between one and six papers from the Foundation and
Intermediate
levels (subject to your progression rules) at any single
exam sitting.
·
You
must complete the Foundation and Intermediate levels
before you can sit
exams for the Final level
·
For
the Final level, you must take the three management
accounting strategy
papers at the same exam sitting. You can choose to sit the
case study exam at the
same time, or at a later sitting.
|
|
You
can choose when to take you exams, and there is no time
limit within which you
must take them all.
CIMA hold exams twice
a year, in May and November. If you plan to take your
first
exam in May, you must
register as a new student by 31st January. If
you plan to take
your first exam in
November, you must register as a new student by 31st
July.
You can choose to sit
your exams in one of over 150 regular exam centres
worldwide
and, if you don’t
have a local centre, CIMA can make special arrangements
for you.
You will find full
details in the Student Resources File, which will be sent,
after your
registration.
You must apply for your CIMA membership within five years
of completing your Final
exams.
|
