EDUCATION AND TRAINING OF IMIS

IMIS COURSES

Three levels of syllabus are available: Foundation, Diploma (which also awards an Application
Programming Certificate), and Higher Diploma.

1. FOUNDATION DIPLOMA

Introduced  in 1988  as  alternative  entry  requirements  to Diploma Course Examination. It is also
suitable  for young  people  who want  to work  with  computers  and  thus need some appropriate
education. All modules defined within the course structure may  be taken individually or collectively
to form a Foundation Diploma.

PRE-REQUISITES
 
There are no pre-requisites to this course. Each module is designed to introduce the student to the
basic elements of Information Systems practice.

2. DIPLOMA COURSE     

Diploma Course  continues  on from  the  Foundation Diploma level although entry at this level is also
available to candidates who comply with the entrance requirements.Completion of these examinations
awards a Diploma Certificate and the general standards equates to the National (ONC) certificate. In
addition, completion  of  three  modules  from  this  course  will  award  an  Application Programming
Certificate.
   
PRE-REQUISITES 

1. 10 + 2 or equivalent 
2. Candidates 19 years of age or more at the time of sitting for IMIS examinations may be admitted
    at the discretion of the Examination Centre Incharge .


3. HIGHER DIPLOMA COURSE  

Extend  and Complements the Diploma Course to give students a Comprehensive of the entire field of
Operations, Programming, systems, Analysis, Design and Computer Management. 


PRE-REQUISITES: One of the following is required

1. Successful completion of the Diploma Level Examination
2. Candidates of 21 years of age or over with four years’ appropriate experience relevant to
    computing or a related field will be eligible for this course.

Please read the following information carefully before completing the Examination Application
Form:

a) Registration

Candidates must be fully registered as members of IMIS.
If a candidates' membership lapses during or after the examination, IMIS has the right to withhold
the examination result.

b) Proceeding to a new course

Candidates must be made aware that they cannot proceed to a new course unless the previous one
 is completed. IMIS will allow a candidate to continue the Higher Diploma only, if one module of the
diploma course is outstanding.

c) Re-Sit

If a student has passed a module he/she can not re-sit at a future date in order to improve a mark

d) Examination Dates

1. Foundation Diploma : May / June and Nov. / Dec. (2 sessions per year)
2. Diploma / Applications Programming Certificate / Higher Diploma :
    June and December (2 sessions per year)

e) Closing Dates - Latest Date for Receipt of all Entries for all Syllabi

June Session 25th March
December Session 25th September

f) Examination Centre

A list of centres within a candidates' area is available upon request to IMTRI office. 

g) Transfer Entry

Once an examination entry has been made, a request to transfer to the next examination session will
be  accepted  before  the  closing date,  but  it  will only be accepted after the due date if a medical
certificate is received at IMTRI office.

h) Examination Fee

1. Registration Fee                                    30.00 Pounds (One Time Only)
2. Foundation Diploma                          88.00  Pounds
3. Diploma                                              138.00 Pounds
4. Higher Diploma                                 180.00 Pounds
